postdoc position in fluid dynamics of flagellate foraging
technical university of denmark
we are seeking a candidate for a two-year postdoctoral position for a project at the interface between aquatic ecology and fluid physics at the centre for ocean life at the technical university of denmark
responsibilities and qualificationsunicellular flagellates are found in all parts of the tree of life, and their resource acquisition is in all cases dependent on the action of their flagella. the arrangement of the flagella, their kinetics and beat patterns, and whether they are equipped with hairs or vanes vary widely between groups. the project will use cfd to explore the hypothesis that the diverse flagellar arrangements represents the different outcome of the trade-off between propulsion, feeding, hiding, and energy saving.
we envisage a candidate with a strong background in computational fluid dynamics and with interest in aquatic ecology and preferably with experience in low reynolds number fluid dynamics.
candidates should hold a phd degree in physics, engineering, or applied mathematics.
as a formal qualification, you must hold a phd degree (or equivalent).
